Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phichael Melps (ranked 2948 p4p, 2657 weight class) and Sergio Striking (ranked 279 p4p, 256 weight class). Sergio Striking will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phichael Melps!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sergio Striking!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Striking. No joy for Melps on that attempt.
Striking connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Striking scores with a jab to the jaw.
Melps closes the distance and clinches up with Striking, looking for a takedown. Melps pushes Striking against the cage but Striking circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Striking looks to throw the jab but Melps is out of range.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phichael Melps. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Melps shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Striking as he avoids it easily.
Striking wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Striking stuffs the takedown attempt from Melps. Melps gets slowly back to his feet.
Melps shoots for a double leg takedown but Striking sprawls well. He's pushed Melps's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Striking looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Melps tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Melps tries to clinch up but Striking circles away and keeps his distance.
Striking throws a lazy uppercut
and Melps counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Melps changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Striking tries to avoid it but Melps manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Striking to the ground. Striking escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Striking ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Melps moves away.
Striking throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Melps sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Striking has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.

Melps tries to move into range but Striking moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jab, jab by Striking - just one landing.
Melps looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Striking!
Melps wants to lay and pray for a moment but Striking keeps working.
Striking can't do much from the bottom here.
Melps wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Striking, who protects the arm well.
Melps moves into full mount!
Melps goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Striking is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Melps is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Striking is aware though and is defending well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Melps pulls Striking in close to prevent any damage.
Striking got a little sloppy there for a moment and Melps has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Striking has managed to get both his arms back between Melps's legs - danger averted.
Melps controls Striking momentarily but Striking frees himself.
Melps keeping full guard, as Striking tries to pass.
Melps has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Striking doesn't defend quickly enough and Melps has managed to lock this one up! Can Striking escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Melps on a fantastic submission victory.
