Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapad Amiga (ranked 23902 p4p, 23749 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Rico Salvacion enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 58 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 50 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion closes the distance and clinches up with Amiga, looking for a takedown. Salvacion pushes Amiga against the cage but Amiga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Salvacion throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
It appears Amiga was looking to counter with a kick there.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown but Salvacion shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Amiga shoots in but no luck this time.
Salvacion is trying to counter with his kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga misses with a hook to the body
and Salvacion counters with a solid body kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Amiga.
Salvacion thinks about the counter body kick.

Amiga throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Salvacion is trying to counter with his kicks.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Amiga drives through with a takedown into Salvacion's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Salvacion is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Amiga has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Salvacion avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Amiga tries for a takedown. No joy.
Salvacion is trying to drag Amiga to the mat but Amiga just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Salvacion turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Salvacion manages to end up in side control.

Amiga tries to buck Salvacion off but Salvacion is having none of it.
Amiga struggling a bit here.
Amiga tries to improve position but can't.
Amiga wants to get back to his feet but Salvacion drags him back down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Amiga is trying to control Salvacion's posture but Salvacion avoids it.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Amiga fails with the takedown.
And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga leaves Salvacion with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Salvacion dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Amiga shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Amiga was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Salvacion is trying to control Amiga's posture but Amiga avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion can't do much from the bottom here.
Salvacion has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Amiga wants to lay and pray for a moment but Salvacion keeps working.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Salvacion fails with the takedown.
Salvacion misses with a takedown attempt - Amiga sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Amiga was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

A lull in the action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Salvacion for as long as he can get away with.
Amiga trying to control the action but Salvacion is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Amiga closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Salvacion to the mat! Salvacion manages to get full guard.
Amiga tries to free his leg and advance position but Salvacion is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Amiga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Amiga continues to stall.
Salvacion is trying to control the position but Amiga postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Amiga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga shoots and misses
and Salvacion makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Amiga really felt that one!
Amiga misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Salvacion unleashes a big counter combination but Amiga bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Amiga as he jumps to the side.

A lull in the action here as Salvacion stalls from top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rico Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
