PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23906 p4p, 23864 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walay Buut told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 50 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 47 - 41 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nice takedown defense from Buut. No joy for Buktot on that attempt.
Buut shoots in looking for a takedown. Buktot tries to sprawl out of it but Buut keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Buktot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Buktot shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Buut preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Buktot gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Buut slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Buut shoots for a double leg takedown but Buktot sprawls well. He's pushed Buut's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Buktot throws a quick counter head kick but Buut was just out of range.

Buktot fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Buut sprawls well initially but Buktot persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Buut is concentrating on defense, preventing Buktot from advancing position.

Buut stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Buut wants it to stay on the feet.
Buut replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Buktot blocks it well.
Buut goes for a double leg but Buktot avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buktot continues to drive forward.

Buktot shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Buut as he jumps to the side.

Buktot closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Buut to the mat! Buut manages to get full guard.

I would just about give that final round to Walay Buut.
I think Buut has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
