PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stan Man (ranked 1536 p4p, 1450 weight class) and Mer Lo (ranked 125 p4p, 117 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 2, fighting out of London, Stan Man!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mer Lo!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man goes for a double leg but Lo avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lo continues to drive forward.
Lo throws out a counter right but Man avoids it with no problem.
Lo pushes Man back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Man tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lo lands a hook that snaps the head of Man backwards.
Lo slows down the pace here.
Lo lands a hook that snaps the head of Man backwards.
Lo is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stan Man. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lo digs a right hand into Man's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Man's gas tank.
A short body shot lands from Lo as the two fighters clinch.

Man is trying to drag Lo to the mat but Lo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Man is breathing heavily.

Man lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Lo is holding on to half guard well.
Lo wants to get back to full guard.
Ground and pound from Man.
Lo is trying to maintain the position but Man is very close to passing his half guard.
Lo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Man seems to be working for a kimura but Lo defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Man has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Lo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Lo regains half guard.

Lo looking for submissions off his back.
Lo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Man.
Lo has hold of Man's hands but Man slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Lo tries to roll over but Man keeps him under control.
Man wants to pass to mount but Lo is defending the position.

Nice strikes from Man there.
Lo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Man is fighting to break Lo's control of his arms but Lo is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Lo is continuing to stall.
Lo looking to control.
Man working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Man cracks Lo with a solid left hand.
Lo is trying to control the position but Man postures up.
Lo is pulling down on Man's head to control his posture.
Lo looking for a sweep. Not yet Lo, not yet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mer Lo dominated that round.

Man shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Man tries to clinch but Lo is having none of it.
Lo throws a counter combo.

and Lo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Man jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lo walks away with a smile on his face. Man gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Man throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Man's head backwards.
Man is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Man shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

enabling Lo to counter with a crisp jab.
Man misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lo throws a shot to the body.

and Lo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Lo is leaning against Man and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Man's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Lo stalling the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lo stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Man tries to pull guard but Lo won't allow it.
Lo is working Man over against the cage.
Lo just leaning against Man, taking a breather.
Lo lands a body shot.
Lo lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Lo works on Man's body with a couple of short punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lo has Man pressed against the cage, preventing Man from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Lo gets through Man's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Lo throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Man drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lo pulls his leg out and moves away.

Oh Man is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mer Lo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Lo is trying to control Man's posture but Man avoids it.
Lo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Man's best efforts.

Lo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Man doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Man manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Man defends it easily.
Lo wants to control but Man passes easily into half guard.

Lo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Stan Man overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lo looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.
Lo reaches up to try and control the position but Man seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Lo rolls and tries to escape and now Man has his back!
Man lands strikes to the head.
Man has the hooks in. Lo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Lo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Man's guard. Nice work there by Lo.
Lo chips away with some ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Man seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Man keeping moving, preventing Lo from controlling successfully.

Lo cracks Man with a solid left hand.
Lo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Man works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Man is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mer Lo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Lo trying to hold on to Man's head to control him but Man postures up.
Stan Man has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Man is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lo is positioning himself well to prevent Man advancing to mount.

Stan Man showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
