PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luis Gomes (ranked 2869 p4p, 4152 weight class) and Ivan Zelecki (ranked 0 p4p, 386 weight class). Gomes comes to the cage accompanied by Highway to Hell AC/DC. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomes gets caught flat footed, as Zelecki shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Zelecki not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gomes is looking to stand up but Zelecki isn't so interested in that idea.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gomes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Zelecki is controlling him.

Zelecki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zelecki is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gomes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gomes shrugs it off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gomes really wants to buck Zelecki off and get back to his feet.

Zelecki has hold of Gomes's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gomes manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Zelecki tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Zelecki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gomes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Zelecki.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Zelecki jumps guard and drags Gomes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Zelecki is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Gomes frees his head nicely. Oh but Zelecki has switched to an armbar! Gomes is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
