PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chatchai Chuwatana (ranked 4107 p4p, 4018 weight class) and Andy Benjamin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chuwatana drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Chuwatana is looking to take a break and control but Benjamin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Benjamin is pushing Chuwatana's head away, looking to escape. Chuwatana manages to hold on to the position though.

Chuwatana is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Benjamin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benjamin pushes Chuwatana away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Chuwatana gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Chuwatana tries to score with some ground and pound. Benjamin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Benjamin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chuwatana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chuwatana is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Benjamin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Benjamin is trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chuwatana misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Benjamin pushes Chuwatana away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Chuwatana gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Benjamin sneaks out the side door and pushes Chuwatana away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Benjamin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Chuwatana fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Benjamin stalks Chuwatana and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Chuwatana's face. Chuwatana staggers backwards, shaken.
Benjamin throws a right and a left that both miss.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chuwatana misses with a double jab.
Benjamin now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

and Benjamin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Benjamin throws a series of strikes that have Chuwatana backpedaling.
Benjamin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Chuwatana eats them both and turns towards Benjamin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Chuwatana is rocked!
Benjamin circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Chuwatana to the canvas! Chuwatana doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Benjamin keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andy Benjamin!
Andy Benjamin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
