The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes throws a hook but Hernandez blocks it.
Hernandez slips under a jab.
Hernandez cracks Gomes with a good jab.
Gomes takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Gomes misses with a straight right.
Hernandez scoring well with a low kick there.
Hernandez's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hernandez duly obliges.

Hernandez rushes Gomes and presses him up against the cage.

Hernandez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Gomes regains guard immediately.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hernandez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gomes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hernandez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gomes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gomes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hernandez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hernandez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
