The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quarto looks to land a body kick but Marsh moved away.
Marsh avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Marsh will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Quarto is looking to counter with a body kick.
Marsh throws a leg kick but Quarto sees it coming and checks it nicely.

The fighters circle momentarily. Marsh darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Marsh has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Quarto went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Quarto is looking to break free of the clinch but Marsh has double underhooks.
Quarto has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Quarto wants to break free but Marsh has control.
Quarto avoids a wild elbow strike from Marsh.
Quarto wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Quarto wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Marsh has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marsh gets through Quarto's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Quarto breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That was a close round but I would say that Pedro Quarto will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
