Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edu Duarte (ranked 3029 p4p, 3159 weight class) and Eduardo Zavala (ranked 320 p4p, 337 weight class). Eduardo Zavala is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Edu Duarte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Zavala!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duarte scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Duarte wants to free his trapped foot but Zavala is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Duarte has gone for a leg lock! Zavala slips out almost immediately though and dives into Duarte's guard.

Duarte could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Duarte is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at LazyFighters Gym - Island Boys, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zavala remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Zavala is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Zavala isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Duarte stacks Zavala on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Duarte!

Duarte is keen to just control but Zavala is a slippery customer.

Zavala wants to sweep but Duarte has passed to side control!

Duarte is looking to take a break and control but Zavala is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Zavala is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duarte pulls his head out easily.
Zavala has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Duarte is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Duarte seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zavala does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Duarte is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Duarte is looking to stall here but Zavala recovers full guard.
Zavala is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Zavala stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duarte swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zavala accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Zavala has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Duarte is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Duarte is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zavala is just riding it out for now. Duarte eventually gives up the hold.
Duarte wants to take a breather but Zavala is having none of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Duarte has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Zavala to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Duarte is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Zavala pulls down on the head and he's put Duarte to sleep! This one is all over!
