Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Olenev Stepanovich (ranked 687 p4p, 332 weight class) and Rimtas Kentas (ranked 80 p4p, 47 weight class). Stepanovich's entrance music is Swallowing Dust. A fine choice. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rimtas Kentas!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Chris Dean and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Kentas.
Kentas lands a slapping body shot.
A cross from Kentas lands.
Stepanovich loads up on a big right hand but Kentas slips the punch.
Kentas digs a good body shot into Stepanovich's ribs.
Kentas digs a good hook to Stepanovich's body.
Nice defenses there by Kentas.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kentas has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Kentas stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Stepanovich.
Kentas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Stepanovich on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Kentas scores with a body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stepanovich throws a hook but Kentas avoids it easily.

Kentas blocks an uppercut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Stepanovich.
Kentas lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Stepanovich working hard to break the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kentas creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Kentas tries to work over Stepanovich's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Stepanovich's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kentas throws a hook to the side of Stepanovich's head but Stepanovich sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kentas looks to score with a jab to the body but Stepanovich is just out of range.

enabling Stepanovich to counter with a crisp jab.
Stepanovich thuds a left hand into Kentas's body.
A bone on bone clash there as Kentas blocks the leg kick.
Kentas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kentas is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Stepanovich rather than just go for the knockout.
Kentas misses with an uppercut. Stepanovich saw that one coming.
Stepanovich connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kentas momentarily.
Kentas swings for the body but Stepanovich moves out of range.

Kentas just misses with a punch to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Stepanovich on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Kentas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Stepanovich clobbers Kentas with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Stepanovich avoids the body shot from Kentas.
Stepanovich lands with a cross.
Kentas comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kentas throws a lazy uppercut
and Stepanovich connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Kentas moves into the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Kentas.
Kentas lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Kentas has hold of one of Stepanovich's legs. Stepanovich is fighting the takedown attempt but Kentas gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Stepanovich is wriggling around but Kentas manages to pass to half guard.

Kentas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Stepanovich has managed to free his arm - good work.

Kentas is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stepanovich is refusing to be controlled, as Kentas sits in half guard.

Kentas is trying to work for a kimura but Stepanovich is defending well.

Stepanovich is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kentas takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Kentas feints and as Stepanovich raises his hands in defense, Kentas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Stepanovich is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kentas won't allow Stepanovich to sweep him here.
Kentas trying to control but Stepanovich is working from the bottom.

Kentas drops back looking for a leg! Stepanovich is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stepanovich manages to kick Kentas off! Kentas jumps back into Stepanovich's guard.
Stepanovich is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kentas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Stepanovich has control of Kentas's left arm, preventing Kentas from doing any damage.

Stepanovich lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kentas is trying to keep Stepanovich in close.
Kentas has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Stepanovich wants to control from the top but Kentas keeps moving.
Stepanovich wants to stand but Kentas is controlling his posture from full guard.
Stepanovich wants to pass the guard but Kentas is keeping the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kentas striking off his back but it's not causing Stepanovich any problems.
Kentas is pulling down on Stepanovich's head. It's preventing any offense from Stepanovich, at least for the moment.
Rimtas Kentas has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kentas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stepanovich can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stepanovich seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kentas trying to keep a closed guard but Stepanovich is proving a slippery customer.
Stepanovich wants to get up but he can't break Kentas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kentas is looking for a triangle here but Stepanovich uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Stepanovich wants to control for a moment but Kentas uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Kentas looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Stepanovich tries to stand and escape but Kentas actually recovers to full guard.
Stepanovich lands a couple of elbows.
Stepanovich with a nice head shot there.

Kentas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stepanovich doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stepanovich manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kentas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stepanovich gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kentas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kentas is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Stepanovich frees his head nicely. Oh but Kentas has switched to an armbar! Stepanovich is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
