PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Hamburgo (ranked 2688 p4p, 3181 weight class) and Attila Kovacs (ranked 278 p4p, 327 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Attila Kovacs was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carlos Hamburgo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Attila Kovacs!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovacs lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hamburgo's sensitive parts.
Kovacs connects with a jab.
Kovacs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hamburgo goes for a double leg but Kovacs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kovacs continues to drive forward.

Kovacs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hamburgo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kovacs swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hamburgo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hamburgo showed some decent athleticism there.

Hamburgo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hamburgo is looking for a kimura but Kovacs is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hamburgo to get the leverage.

A close round but Attila Kovacs will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hamburgo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Kovacs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kovacs fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hamburgo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Hamburgo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hamburgo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hamburgo dives in and grabs Kovacs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kovacs pushes down on Hamburgo's head and hops out.

Kovacs lands a big head kick that sends Hamburgo tumbling to the mat! Kovacs takes a step backwards and waves Hamburgo back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looked like Hamburgo was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kovacs.

Kovacs is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hamburgo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Hamburgo is taking a breather. Kovacs says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Hamburgo works his foot free and advances to mount.
Attila Kovacs is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Hamburgo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kovacs turns into him and now he's in Hamburgo's guard.

Hamburgo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kovacs defends well.
Carlos Hamburgo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kovacs wants to get up but he can't break Hamburgo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hamburgo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kovacs controls the pace.
Hamburgo has his hands on Kovacs's head, controlling the position.
Carlos Hamburgo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hamburgo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kovacs gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Attila Kovacs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kovacs winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
