PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ahjo Kuomanen (ranked 47 p4p, 330 weight class) and Ghengis Khan (ranked 5 p4p, 21 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kuomanen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to HonestKey - One Shot. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Ghengis Khan!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuomanen stuns Khan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kuomanen takes one to the side of the head.
Kuomanen misses with a wild body shot.
Khan throws an overhand right that lands on Kuomanen's shoulder, as Kuomanen tries to avoid the shot.
Kuomanen appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Kuomanen works Khan's body with a nice hook.
Khan is looking to clinch but Kuomanen is avoiding it.
Ghengis Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan misses with a wild body shot.
Kuomanen attempts a counter takedown but Khan avoids it well and moves away.
Kuomanen looks to land a left hand but Khan moved out of range nicely.

The fight stays on the outside here - Khan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kuomanen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Khan is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kuomanen connects with a decent elbow.

Kuomanen is trying to get an arm triangle but Khan is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Khan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Khan felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Kuomanen swings around for an armbar but Khan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kuomanen's guard.
Kuomanen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khan's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan has Kuomanen pulled in close to control his posture.
Kuomanen tries to free his leg and advance position but Khan is retaining full guard.
Kuomanen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Khan has momentary wrist control but Kuomanen slips an elbow through the middle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kuomanen throws an elbow that misses. Khan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kuomanen's guard. Nice move by Khan!


Kuomanen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Khan defends it easily.

Kuomanen seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Kuomanen has his feet on Khan's thighs here. He's pushed Khan off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Khan screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

After winning the bout, Ahjo Kuomanen thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
