PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paulius Zurauskas (ranked 1484 p4p, 1923 weight class) and Daniel Steel (ranked 151 p4p, 199 weight class). Daniel Steel told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Steel!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Zurauskas.
Steel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Zurauskas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Steel now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Zurauskas getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

It looks like Daniel Steel has been cut.

Zurauskas shoots in and gets a takedown into Steel's guard.

Zurauskas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Steel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Zurauskas has Steel in his guard.

Steel trying to control the position from guard on top but Zurauskas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zurauskas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Steel is aware though and is defending well.

Zurauskas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Steel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Zurauskas is tightening it up a little... Steel has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Steel reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Steel taps out! Nice BJJ there by Zurauskas!
