PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nagatsuki Hideki (ranked 961 p4p, 2410 weight class) and Dakota Reis (ranked 120 p4p, 268 weight class). Reis is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Cree Prayer Song - Young Spirit. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nagatsuki Hideki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dakota Reis!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reis moves into the clinch.

Hideki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Reis gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Reis lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Hideki breaks from the clinch.
Reis swings widly with a right hand
and Hideki counters with a left to the body.
Hideki walks into a stiff left hand from Reis.
The fighters circling - Reis throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Reis lands with a right hand.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hideki crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Reis - the referee stops the clock and Hideki gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Reis. Hideki manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Hideki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hideki misses with a straight right.
Hideki misses with a looping left.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hideki throws a lazy right hand but Reis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hideki tries to move into range but Reis moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Reis fails with an attempt to clinch.

Reis takes the fight into the clinch.
Reis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Hideki is trying to force a seperation but Reis has the dominant position.
Reis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hideki smiles and moves away.
Hideki misses with a straight right.
Reis is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Hideki throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Reis moves into the clinch.
Reis lands with a left to the head.
Hideki wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hideki is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hideki blocking some punches.
Reis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Reis is trying to pull guard but Hideki has him pressed against the cage.
Nagatsuki Hideki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dakota Reis.
Reis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Reis digs a right hand into Hideki's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Hideki's gas tank.
Hideki prevents a body shot from Reis.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hideki.
Hideki working some nice short punches in the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reis lands a shot to the body.
Reis prevents Hideki from breaking the clinch.
Reis is trying to pull guard but Hideki has him pressed against the cage.

Reis stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Still in the clinch, Hideki scores with a nice short uppercut.

Hideki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Reis moves into the clinch.

Reis throws a lazy uppercut
and Hideki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Reis connects with a crisp jab.
Reis throws a sloppy body shot
and Hideki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Reis throws out a powerful jab.
Hideki throws a jab when Reis was well out of range.
Hideki bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Reis's head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hideki. Reis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Reis is looking to clinch.
Hideki appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Reis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hideki is looking to counter punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hideki gets tackled into the cage by Reis. Reis maintains the clinch.
Reis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hideki just stands there and leans against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Hideki's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hideki working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Reis moves to clinch but Hideki breaks away
letting Hideki counter with a right hand.
Reis wants to clinch but Hideki slips to the side
and Hideki cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Reis staying out of range there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dakota Reis will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Reis has Hideki up against the cage in a clinch.
Hideki lands a nice uppercut.
Reis lands a body punch.
Reis jumps guard but Hideki turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Hideki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Reis throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hideki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Reis is rocked!
Hideki circles away from the clinch attempt
and Hideki counters with a huge right that knocks Reis out cold! Hideki is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nagatsuki Hideki!
Our winner, Nagatsuki Hideki, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
