Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurki Potku (ranked 515 p4p, 578 weight class) and Tino Takala (ranked 77 p4p, 89 weight class). Kurki Potku has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurki Potku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Tino Takala!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A clash of legs there as Takala blocks the low kick.
Takala swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Potku misses with an uppercut
and Takala counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Potku lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Potku thuds his right hand into Takala's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Potku throws the kick towards the body but Takala avoids it.
Takala swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Takala moves away from the strike by Potku.
A little jabbing left from Takala on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Potku swings widly with a right hand
and Takala counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Potku takes the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takala is trying to break free.
Takala blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Potku shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Potku keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Potku connects with a solid leg kick.
Potku throws out a powerful jab.
Horrible takedown attempt by Potku or perhaps it was just good defense by Takala, which made it look bad.
Takala throws out a counter right but Potku avoids it with no problem.

Potku misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Takala connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Takala slips a straight right by Potku.
Takala slips under a jab from Potku.
Potku throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
It seemed like Takala was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A jab from Potku finds it's way through Takala's defenses.
Tino Takala is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Potku tries to clinch but Takala moves away
and Takala counters with a nice body shot.
Potku throws out a leg kick but Takala moves out of range and Potku only half commits.
Potku looks to land a right hand but Takala moved out of range.
Takala takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Takala avoids the body shot from Potku.
Takala looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Potku changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kurki Potku seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Potku tries for a takedown but Takala circles away easily
and Takala counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Potku throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Takala counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Potku thinking.
Potku throws a shot from downtown. Takala moves away and avoids it.
That kick from Potku tenderised Takala's leg. Takala is trying to keep his angry face on.
Potku fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Potku throws a body shot but no joy.
Takala slaps away a takedown attempt from Potku, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurki Potku. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Takala takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Potku lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Takala has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Takala and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Takala looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Potku misses the jab.
Potku throws a jab but it's blocked by Takala.
Takala let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Potku scores with a kick to the body.
Potku turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Potku connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Potku looks to land a left hand but Takala moved out of range nicely.
Takala throws a counter combo.
Takala stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Takala wants it to stay on the feet.
Potku throws a leg kick that is checked
and Takala counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Potku shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Takala uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Potku.
Potku throws a sloppy body shot
and Takala counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Potku throws an off balance right hand
and Takala counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Potku shoots in but Takala avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Potku is defended easily by Takala.

Despite the aggression on Takala's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Kurki Potku is winning the standup battle so far.
Potku misses with a left hand
and Potku takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Potku misses with a hook. Takala ducked under it nicely.
Potku throws an overhand right that lands on Takala's shoulder, as Takala tries to avoid the shot.
Takala has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Potku finds it's way round the side to connect with Takala's head.
Potku misses with a low kick.
Potku scores with a jab to the jaw.
Tino Takala is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Potku tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Takala paws at him with a jab and circles away.
As Potku backs off Takala throws a huge counter combo but Potku manages to avoid it all.
Potku connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Potku bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Takala's head.

Potku drives through with a takedown into Takala's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Potku trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Takala is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Potku trying to control but Takala is working from the bottom.
Potku looking to sit in guard and control but Takala gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Takala is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Potku has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Takala is looking to defend but Potku has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Takala! Potku pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Takala taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kurki Potku!
A pretty intense looking Kurki Potku took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
