Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shamar Schmidt (ranked 5053 p4p, 25132 weight class) and Keyon Bowman (ranked 546 p4p, 626 weight class). Keyon Bowman is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schmidt fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bowman sprawls well initially but Schmidt persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bowman manages to get to full guard.
Bowman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Schmidt controls the pace.
Bowman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Schmidt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bowman on the ground.
Bowman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bowman won't allow Schmidt to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Bowman is standing up over Schmidt. Schmidt looks to escape but Bowman dives into side control.

Bowman controls the position.
Schmidt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bowman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bowman tries to move to mount but Schmidt blocks the move with his legs.
Schmidt tries to buck Bowman off but Bowman is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Schmidt goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bowman has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Schmidt but great work by Bowman.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Schmidt feints and then cracks Bowman's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bowman down.
Keyon Bowman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Schmidt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bowman is looking to regain half guard here but Schmidt keeps moving and retains side control.
Bowman manages to get back to half guard.
