The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Matson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Nice sprawl there from Matson as Draconis shoots in.
Draconis tries to clinch
and Matson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Matson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Matson throws a hook but Draconis avoids it easily.
Matson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Draconis on the side of the head.

It looks like Tommy Draconis has been cut.
Draconis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Draconis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Matson throws out a loose jab but Draconis uses good head movement to avoid it.

Draconis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Matson defends well and Draconis ends up having to push Matson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Draconis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Matson was covering up waiting for the punch and Draconis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Draconis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Draconis content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Draconis wants to control from the top but Matson keeps moving.
Matson has control of Draconis's left arm, preventing Draconis from doing any damage.
Draconis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Matson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Matson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Matson.
The fighters circling - Matson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Matson throws the left hand but Draconis avoids the punch easily.
Draconis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matson as he avoids it easily.

Draconis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Draconis misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Matson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Draconis lands a couple of good shots and Matson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

A very excited looking Tommy Matson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Tommy Draconis spoke after the fight, saying 'This fight was really short notice, only a few days. My manager screwed the pooch here. It's no wonder I lost. It has to be someone else's fault! I'm the shit!'.
