PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 2125 p4p, 2494 weight class) and Balink Tarlah (ranked 239 p4p, 275 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corwin Anstey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Balink Tarlah!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tarlah misses with a looping left.

Tarlah rushes Anstey and presses him up against the cage.

Tarlah has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Anstey clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Anstey rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Tarlah not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Anstey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Anstey can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tarlah is looking to escape.

No joy there for Anstey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

It looks like Balink Tarlah has been cut.
Tarlah shoots for a double leg takedown but Anstey sprawls well. He's pushed Tarlah's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Tarlah darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Anstey tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tarlah swivels and escapes.
Tarlah lands with an uppercut that bounces Anstey off the cage and back into range.

Tarlah has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anstey is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Corwin Anstey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tarlah fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Anstey sprawls well initially but Tarlah persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

and Tarlah cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Tarlah shoots in and bounces Anstey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Tarlah stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anstey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Tarlah. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Balink Tarlah comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tarlah has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
