Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bertrand Holderbaum (ranked 1854 p4p, 1758 weight class) and Gunnar Skog (ranked 263 p4p, 253 weight class). Skog has chosen Another One Bites the Dust - Queen as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bertrand Holderbaum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Skog!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holderbaum throws a body kick that misses.
Skog steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Holderbaum.
Skog is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Holderbaum with a body shot.
Skog throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Holderbaum goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
A big right from Skog misses.
Holderbaum throws a body kick that misses.
Skog scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gunnar Skog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Holderbaum throws a lazy body kick
and Skog counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Holderbaum looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Skog blocks the body kick.
Skog tries a quick counter leg kick but Holderbaum is wise to it.

Skog closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Holderbaum on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Holderbaum misses with a short punch on the inside.
Skog misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Holderbaum.
Skog works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
A head punch on the inside from Holderbaum fails to land.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Holderbaum creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Skog misses with a hook to the ribs.

Skog is looking to control Holderbaum's arms but Holderbaum gets an underhook and turns him. Now Skog has his back to the cage.
Skog manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
A right hook to the body lands for Holderbaum.
Holderbaum really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Holderbaum.
A right hook to the body lands for Skog.
Skog blocks an uppercut.
Holderbaum lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Holderbaum takes an elbow to the temple.
Holderbaum throws a punch but it's blocked by Skog.
Skog doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Skog lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Nice body punch from Skog - that landed with a thud.
A head punch on the inside from Holderbaum fails to land.
Holderbaum misses with some punches.
Skog is working Holderbaum over against the cage.
Skog creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Holderbaum avoiding damage as Skog throws knees to the body.

Holderbaum doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Skog continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Holderbaum throws a punch but it's blocked by Skog.
Holderbaum makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Holderbaum goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Skog is trying to maintain a safe position but Holderbaum gets an underhook and turns Skog into the cage.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Gunnar Skog.
Skog lands a nice shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Skog. Holderbaum does a little dance to reset his feet.
Holderbaum throws a push kick but Skog slaps the foot to one side.
Skog blocks the body kick.
Skog catches Holderbaum with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Skog has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Holderbaum.
Skog scores with the left hand. Holderbaum knows he should have avoided that one.
Skog lands with a shot to the body.
Skog looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Skog throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Holderbaum stumbling backwards into the cage! Holderbaum bounces back off the cage towards Skog, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Skog lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Skog celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Gunnar Skog!
A relieved looking Gunnar Skog thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
