PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Frost (ranked 2973 p4p, 3920 weight class) and Tahboule Alawi (ranked 216 p4p, 264 weight class). Alawi has chosen The Ruler of Everything as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tahboule Alawi!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frost closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Frost is trying to break the clinch but Alawi has him pressed against the cage.
Alawi fails to pull guard.
Alawi jumps guard but Frost turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Alawi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Frost pulls his leg out and moves away.
John Frost has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tahboule Alawi.

Frost closes the distance and pushes Alawi back into the cage.
Alawi fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Alawi tries to pull guard but Frost forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Alawi wants to take the fight to the mat but Frost manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alawi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Frost gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Alawi jumps guard but Frost stands there with Alawi around his waist. Alawi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Frost escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alawi swats away the attempt to clinch by Frost.
Alawi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Frost defends it well.

Alawi tries to keep at a distance but Frost has taken the fight into the clinch.

Frost is looking to clinch.

Frost has closed the distance and engaged Alawi in a clinch.
Alawi jumps guard but Frost turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Frost gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Alawi.
Alawi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Frost walks away with a smile on his face. Alawi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Frost fails in his attempt to clinch.
Frost is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Alawi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Frost darts in and clinches Alawi up against the cage.
Alawi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Frost gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Alawi decides to pull guard.

Alawi working for a triangle but Frost defends it easily.
Frost is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at The Scrap Squad that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Alawi seems keen to control Frost's posture.

Alawi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Frost gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Alawi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Frost manages to get himself to full guard.

Frost is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alawi pushes down on Frost's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Alawi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Frost!

That was a close round but I would say that John Frost will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Alawi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Frost is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alawi, into his guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Alawi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Frost has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Alawi pulls Frost in close to prevent any damage.
Frost is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alawi can do to turn this around?

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Frost wants to get up but he can't break Alawi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Frost is staying active underneath Alawi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Alawi is working for a submission of some sort.

Alawi is trying for a kimura here. Frost looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Alawi wins by kimura!

A relieved looking Tahboule Alawi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
