Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mud Skipper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Desmond Marks!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marks throws a hook to the side of Skipper's head but Skipper sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Desmond Marks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Skipper rushes Marks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Marks scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Marks lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Skipper prevents a body shot from Marks.
Marks cracks Skipper with a nice body shot.
Marks lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Skipper backwards.
Skipper tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Marks scores with a shoulder strike.
Marks working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Marks lands a hook to the side of the head.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marks can do anything to dispel that myth.

Skipper drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Skipper jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Skipper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Skipper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Skipper won't allow Marks to sweep him here.

Skipper looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Marks wants to get back to his feet.

Skipper is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Marks rolls with it to try and escape but Skipper cranks on the arm and Marks is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
