Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pornthonglek Sitsongrit (ranked 1673 p4p, 3086 weight class) and Steve Sherk (ranked 150 p4p, 242 weight class). Pornthonglek Sitsongrit has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pornthonglek Sitsongrit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Sherk!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherk takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Sherk fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sitsongrit avoids it really well and circles away.

Sherk closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sitsongrit's guard.
Sitsongrit is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sherk dives into side control.

The referee asks Sherk politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sherk prefers to stall for the moment though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sherk swings around for an armbar but Sitsongrit sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sherk's guard.

Sitsongrit got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sherk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sitsongrit has managed to get both his arms back between Sherk's legs - danger averted.
Sitsongrit is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Sherk shoots in looking for a takedown but Sitsongrit manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sherk's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sherk connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sitsongrit. Sitsongrit circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Sitsongrit needs to keep his hands up - Sherk had a free shot at his head there.

Sherk missing with a left hand there. Sitsongrit was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sitsongrit jabs Sherk to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Sitsongrit throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sherk stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sitsongrit paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Sherk shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sherk showed some decent athleticism there.

Sitsongrit buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Sherk has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sitsongrit finds it's way round the side to connect with Sherk's head.
Sherk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sitsongrit's waist but Sitsongrit gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sherk off to one side.

Sitsongrit looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

and Sitsongrit counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Sherk dives in for a single leg takedown but Sitsongrit sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Sitsongrit was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Sherk misses with a hook
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Sitsongrit fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sherk.
Pornthonglek Sitsongrit is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sherk shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sitsongrit pinned against the cage. Sitsongrit gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sherk takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Sitsongrit is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sherk can do to turn this around?

Sitsongrit cracks Sherk with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Sherk looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Sitsongrit finish him?

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sherk is still on wobbly legs! Can Sitsongrit finish him?

Sitsongrit sends Sherk crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sitsongrit is motioning to the referee to let Sherk up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Sherk moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sitsongrit leaves Sherk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Sitsongrit's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Sherk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Sitsongrit counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Sherk seems to have recovered his senses.

Sherk closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sitsongrit quickly recovers to half guard.

Sitsongrit uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Sitsongrit drops Sherk with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Sherk! Sitsongrit dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Pornthonglek Sitsongrit decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
