Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 1093 p4p, 1028 weight class) and Calvin Deane (ranked 49 p4p, 62 weight class). Deane has chosen Cinderella Man as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Calvin Deane!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deane lands an overhand right.
Paul walks into a jab.
Deane fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Paul was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Paul gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Deane throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Paul works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Paul has momentary wrist control but Deane slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Deane missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Deane working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Deane throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Deane connects with a couple of short punches.
