PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Colby Taylor (ranked 108 p4p, 819 weight class) and Marco Natta (ranked 7 p4p, 62 weight class). Natta has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Colby Taylor!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Natta!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Natta is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Taylor cracks Natta with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Taylor gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Taylor pushes Natta back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Taylor lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Taylor gets control of Natta's arms and successfully pulls guard. Taylor will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Taylor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Natta gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Taylor is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Natta off and has taken his back!
Natta has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Taylor slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Taylor is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Natta has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Taylor's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

I would not like to be Natta right now.
Taylor has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Taylor.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Taylor controlling well, preventing Natta from escaping the position.

Taylor is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Natta is defending well though. Taylor let's go of the attempt for now.
You can see the frustration on Natta's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Taylor is looking to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Taylor looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taylor is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Natta is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Taylor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Natta drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Natta jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Taylor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Natta's guard.

Natta can't keep his opponent in guard - Taylor advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Natta is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Taylor thows a huge punch but Natta dodges it nicely.

Colby Taylor overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Taylor pushes down on Natta's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Taylor is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Taylor wants to pass the guard but Natta is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Taylor connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Natta drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Taylor tries to clinch there but Natta circles away.
Taylor scores with a nice head shot.

Taylor blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Natta tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Taylor just stands there and leans against the cage.

Taylor manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Natta manages to get himself to full guard.

Taylor is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Natta can do to turn this around?

Natta isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Taylor stacks Natta on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Taylor!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Taylor remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Natta shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Taylor lands a hook to the side of the head.

Taylor looking for a triangle here. Natta is fighting it but it looks tight! Taylor pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Natta is tapping out - this one is all over!
