PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tsuyoi Kakuto (ranked 1205 p4p, 2096 weight class) and Balal Lama (ranked 141 p4p, 245 weight class). Kakuto comes to the cage accompanied by Gorillaz-Dirty Harry. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Balal Lama!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakuto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lama.
Nice takedown defense from Kakuto. No joy for Lama on that attempt.
Kakuto shoots in looking for a takedown. Lama tries to sprawl out of it but Kakuto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lama manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lama throws an overhand right that lands on Kakuto's shoulder, as Kakuto tries to avoid the shot.

Lama throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kakuto closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lama tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Kakuto has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lama manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kakuto's guard. Nice work there by Lama.

Lama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kakuto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Tsuyoi Kakuto will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

We've been told by Kakuto's head coaches at Canucks Combat Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Kakuto throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lama tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kakuto is in Lama's guard.

Kakuto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lama's guard.
