PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Peterson (ranked 3523 p4p, 2082 weight class) and Benjamin Kueller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Berzerk by Eminem. Jake Peterson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 16 - 2, fighting out of London, Benjamin Kueller!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson tries to clinch up but Kueller circles away and keeps his distance.
Peterson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
An inside leg kick lands from Kueller.

Kueller has taken the fight to the clinch.
Peterson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kueller fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Peterson throws a series of punches but Kueller moves out of range.
Peterson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Peterson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kueller defends it nicely.

Kueller closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Peterson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kueller is pushing Peterson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Kueller using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Peterson wants to get back to striking at distance but Kueller won't allow it.
Peterson's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Peterson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kueller gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Peterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kueller has Peterson pushed against the cage.

Kueller lands a nice knee to the body.
Peterson tries for a takedown but Kueller manages to get underhooks.
Kueller stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Kueller escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kueller lands a nice looking body kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Peterson. Kueller does a little dance to reset his feet.
Peterson throws a series of punches but Kueller avoids them all with ease.
A countering left hand to the body from Kueller misses.
Peterson lands a two punch combo.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kueller thuds his right hand into Peterson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Kueller closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kueller obliges.
Peterson is breathing heavily.
Kueller lands an elbow that stopped Peterson in his tracks for a moment.

It looks like Jake Peterson has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Peterson goes for a takedown attempt but Kueller pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kueller closes the distance and clinches.
Peterson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Still in the clinch, Kueller scores with a nice short uppercut.
I was talking to Peterson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Kueller breaks from the clinch.
Kueller connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Kueller scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Kueller scores with a three punch combo!

Kueller fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Peterson, pushing him back against the cage.

Kueller escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kueller lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Peterson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kueller circles away quickly and effectively.
Kueller buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kueller lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kueller closes the distance and clinches.
Peterson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kueller after a bit of a struggle.
Peterson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kueller avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kueller lands a damaging elbow.
Peterson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kueller gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kueller pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kueller clinches up against the cage.
Peterson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kueller will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Peterson up against the cage.
Peterson takes an elbow to the temple.

Jake Peterson's cut is getting worse.
Kueller lands a damaging elbow.

Kueller breaks the clinch.
Peterson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kueller defends it nicely.
Peterson throws a combination that misses
and Kueller counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Peterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kueller sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Peterson somewhat.
Peterson fails to land with a series of punches.

Kueller drops Peterson with a left and a right! Oh, Peterson is hurt - Kueller dives into side control looking to finish!

Jake Peterson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kueller moves into full mount!
Kueller controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Benjamin Kueller dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jake Peterson's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kueller with a nice cross.
Peterson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kueller's waist but Kueller gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peterson off to one side.

Kueller closes the distance and clinches.
Peterson jumps guard but Kueller stands there with Peterson around his waist. Peterson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Peterson goes for a takedown attempt but Kueller pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Peterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kueller lands a nice shot that snaps Peterson's head back.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kueller.
Peterson takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Kueller has closed the distance and engaged Peterson in a clinch.
Kueller gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Peterson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peterson goes for a takedown attempt but Kueller pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jake Peterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kueller feints and then cracks Peterson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Peterson down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kueller tests Peterson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kueller connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Peterson's hands.
Kueller comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kueller moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Jeez, Jake Peterson's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
A punch lands to the side of Peterson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Peterson takes one to the chin there.

Peterson is rocked!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jake Peterson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Benjamin Kueller!
