My spies in Blacktalians MMA inform me that McDonald has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Kulik controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Kulik is fighting to break McDonald's control of his arms but McDonald is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
McDonald is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kulik has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Kulik has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

McDonald tries to reverse the position but Kulik maintains control.

Kulik has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of McDonald's body.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kulik seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McDonald for as long as he can get away with.

Kulik keeps control of the position as McDonald tries to break free.
I would not like to be McDonald right now.
McDonald trying to control the action but Kulik just sinks the hooks in.

Kulik trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure McDonald doesn't escape.
Kulik will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
McDonald just trying to survive but Kulik is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
What can McDonald do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
McDonald tries to roll but Kulik sticks to his back.

Kulik slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
McDonald trying to control but not successfully.

A very excited looking Vasiliy Kulik made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
