Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Forrester Jr (ranked 1344 p4p, 1498 weight class) and Methuselah Honeysuckle (ranked 208 p4p, 223 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Honeysuckle's choice of entrance music: Dropkick Murphy's - Warriors Code. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Methuselah Honeysuckle!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forrester Jr throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A countering left hand to the body from Honeysuckle misses.
Forrester Jr misses with a double jab.
Forrester Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Forrester Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Honeysuckle moves away.
Some wild striking there from Forrester Jr.
Forrester Jr misses with a two punch combination.
Honeysuckle throws a sloppy body shot
and Forrester Jr counters with a straight right hand.
Forrester Jr fails to land with a series of punches.
Forrester Jr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Forrester Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Honeysuckle moves away.
Honeysuckle is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Honeysuckle's coach down at Cobra Kai Workout Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Honeysuckle's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Forrester Jr tests Honeysuckle's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Forrester Jr throws a right and a left that Honeysuckle avoids nicely.
Honeysuckle looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

As Forrester Jr backs off Honeysuckle throws a huge counter combo but Forrester Jr manages to avoid it all.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Forrester Jr lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Honeysuckle has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Honeysuckle and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Forrester Jr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Honeysuckle stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Honeysuckle moves in looking to clinch but Forrester Jr pushes him off.
Forrester Jr went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Forrester Jr throws a right and a left that Honeysuckle avoids nicely.
Honeysuckle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Forrester Jr moves away.

and Honeysuckle counters by clinching up.
Come on Honeysuckle - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Forrester Jr swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Honeysuckle swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Honeysuckle struggles to land a body shot inside as Forrester Jr controls his hands.

Forrester Jr dodges an elbow strike from Honeysuckle.

Forrester Jr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Honeysuckle scores with a head kick.
A combination from Forrester Jr does no damage.
Honeysuckle uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Forrester Jr.
Honeysuckle misses with a double jab
and Forrester Jr counters with a two punch combo.
Honeysuckle with a nice calf kick.

Forrester Jr feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Honeysuckle sprawling to the canvas! Honeysuckle rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Forrester Jr finish him?!

Honeysuckle is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Forrester Jr tries a head kick but it misses.
Honeysuckle is still on wobbly legs! Can Forrester Jr finish him?
Forrester Jr lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Honeysuckle head around and knocks him out cold! Forrester Jr hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Thomas Forrester Jr!
Thomas Forrester Jr managed to slip a mention for his sponsors, Northern Zombie, into his post fight interview.
In defeat, Methuselah Honeysuckle stepped up to the mic, saying 'A bump in the road, I'll be back better and hungrier!'.
