Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mateusz Gamrot (ranked 3858 p4p, 4008 weight class) and Ron Hammonds (ranked 0 p4p, 164 weight class). Ron Hammonds has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mateusz Gamrot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Hammonds!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammonds shoots in looking for a takedown. Gamrot tries to sprawl out of it but Hammonds keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gamrot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gamrot closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gamrot lands in his opponent's guard.
Hammonds wants to get back to his feet but Gamrot is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hammonds working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gamrot doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gamrot manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Gamrot stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hammonds swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gamrot got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hammonds has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gamrot has managed to get both his arms back between Hammonds's legs - danger averted.

Gamrot gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Gamrot connects with a high kick.
Hammonds tries to land a front kick but Gamrot steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Gamrot drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Gamrot fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Hammonds tries to roll over but Gamrot keeps him under control.

Gamrot closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hammonds is looking for a sweep. Gamrot is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gamrot decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Hammonds gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gamrot to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hammonds escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gamrot gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gamrot knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hammonds on the ground.

Hammonds looking for a guillotine here but Gamrot defends easily.

Hammonds has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gamrot can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hammonds takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gamrot gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gamrot pushes Hammonds up against the cage in a clinch.
Hammonds fails to pull guard.

Gamrot manages to break the clinch.

Hammonds gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hammonds has his foot on Gamrot's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gamrot works his way back into a safe position though.

Gamrot decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hammonds, up you get!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hammonds enables Gamrot to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hammonds manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hammonds can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gamrot controls the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Gamrot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
