PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Agbay Amiga (ranked 23640 p4p, 23816 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 42 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Agbay Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 37 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Salvacion fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Amiga sprawls well initially but Salvacion persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Amiga trying to hold on to Salvacion's head to control him but Salvacion postures up.
Amiga is trying to get back to full guard.
Amiga is trying is best to control the position here.
Salvacion controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga is doing well to control the position and prevent Salvacion from advancing to side control.
Salvacion takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Amiga gets caught flat footed, as Salvacion shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Salvacion is fighting to break Amiga's control of his arms but Amiga is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Amiga has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Salvacion working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Amiga's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Amiga looking to hit a scissor sweep but Salvacion is one step ahead there.
Salvacion engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Salvacion might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Amiga is trying hard to land a takedown here. Salvacion sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown but Salvacion shows good takedown defense.
Amiga blocks the body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Salvacion throws a wild body kick that Amiga sees coming a mile off.
Salvacion tries to score a power double leg takedown but Amiga sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Salvacion somewhat.
Amiga throws a quick counter kick to the body but Salvacion avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Salvacion darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Salvacion dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Salvacion slaps away a takedown attempt from Amiga, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Salvacion was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga is being controlled here.

Amiga struggling a bit here.
Amiga tries to buck Salvacion off but Salvacion is having none of it.

Salvacion is looking to take a break and control but Amiga is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Salvacion throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
What's Amiga going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Salvacion shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Salvacion showed some decent athleticism there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Amiga is controlling Salvacion's trapped leg to prevent Salvacion from advancing to side control.
Salvacion takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion is keeping busy.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nice sprawl there from Amiga as Salvacion shoots in.
Amiga throws a quick counter kick to the body but Salvacion avoids it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Salvacion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

No luck for Salvacion with that takedown attempt.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Amiga quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Amiga closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga tries to stand but can't do so whilst Salvacion controls his leg.

Salvacion has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Amiga is on him like a limpet, forcing Salvacion back against the cage.

Salvacion successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Amiga wants to stand but Salvacion has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Amiga controlling from the top position.
Salvacion has a closed guard, preventing Amiga from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Amiga gets to his feet. Salvacion looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Salvacion counters with a takedown into side control.

Amiga is being controlled here.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion postures up.
Amiga being controlled for a moment.
Salvacion's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Amiga is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Amiga wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Agbay Amiga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rico Salvacion is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Salvacion as he jumps to the side.
Salvacion counters with a body kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rico Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
