PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Everest Frank (ranked 1497 p4p, 1949 weight class) and Kova Luu (ranked 80 p4p, 69 weight class). Frank comes into the arena with Knife Talk x Drake ft. 21 Savage x Project Pat blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Everest Frank!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Kova Luu!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Frank moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Luu scoring well with a low kick there.
Frank throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Luu takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Frank throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Luu was covering up waiting for the punch and Frank finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Luu wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Frank manages to pass to side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Luu tries to roll over but Frank keeps him under control.
Frank is keen to just control but Luu is a slippery customer.
Frank will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frank winds up and cracks Luu with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Frank lands strikes from half guard.
Frank prevents Luu from improving his position.
Frank seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Luu is positioning himself well to prevent Frank advancing to mount.
Frank looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Luu on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Frank lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Luu quite badly. Luu pulls Frank in close trying to recover. Frank postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Luu on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Luu doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Everest Frank!
In his post fight interview, Everest Frank gave a big smile as he said 'England I JUST SMASHED YOUR BOY!!!'.
