WP 35 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 28 losses; Jacque Joteel! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 33 losses; Strega Notturna!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Joteel closes the distance and clinches.
Notturna is trying to pull guard but Joteel turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch.
Notturna fails to pull guard.
Joteel tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Notturna smiles and moves away.
Notturna tries to score a power double leg takedown but Joteel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Notturna somewhat.
Jacque Joteel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Strega Notturna.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Joteel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Notturna tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Notturna has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Joteel is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Joteel is looking for a sweep. Notturna is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Joteel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Joteel.
Notturna wants to control from the top but Joteel keeps moving.

Joteel has his foot on Notturna's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Notturna works his way back into a safe position though.
