Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nero Porto (ranked 2110 p4p, 2599 weight class) and Jay Read (ranked 285 p4p, 354 weight class). Porto comes to the cage accompanied by Ayumi Nakamura - Kaze Ni Nare. The crowd seem to be enjoying Read's choice of entrance music: Fight Music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nero Porto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Read!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Read ducks under a wild hook from Porto.
Read looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Read moves away from the strike by Porto.
Despite the aggression on Read's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Read doesn't manage to clinch there - Porto circles away.
Read drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Porto tries for a takedown but Read circles away easily
and Read counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Read has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Read takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Read is pushing Porto's head away, looking to escape. Porto manages to hold on to the position though.
Porto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Read keeps working.
Porto working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Read is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Porto has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Porto connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Read some visible discomfort.
Porto lands a nice forearm strike.
Read is trying to buck Porto off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Porto works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Read takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Read is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Porto cracks Read with a big right hand but Read just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Porto is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Read is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Porto is controlling him well.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Porto cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Porto cracks Read with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Porto lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Read hang on?
Read trying desperately to get to his feet.
Read takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Porto postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Read looks a forlorn figure.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Porto throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Read seems to have recovered his senses.
Porto rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Read counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Read tests Porto's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Read throws a shot to the body.
Porto lands a jab to Read's midsection.
Porto misses with a lunging right hand
and Read makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Read tries to clinch there but Porto circles away.
Porto throws a predictable looking body shot
and Porto takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Read wants to clinch up but Porto keeps it at a distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Porto misses with a straight left.
Porto looks to land a left hand but Read moved out of range nicely.
Porto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Read sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jay Read is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Read closes the distance and clinches.
Porto misses with some punches.

Porto pulls Read into guard.

Porto had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Read defends it easily.
Read would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Porto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Porto has his foot on Read's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Read works his way back into a safe position though.
Read wants to stand but Porto has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Porto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Porto has his foot on Read's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Read works his way back into a safe position though.

Read wanted to stand there but Porto had control of the position.

Porto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Read can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Porto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Read doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Read manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

It looked like Porto was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Read.

Porto lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Read or not.
Porto throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Reads head.

Porto ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Porto no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Read stands and steps away. Porto gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Read stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Porto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Porto wants to lay and pray for a moment but Read keeps working.

Read displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Porto throws out the jab.
Read lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Read.

Read takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Nero Porto showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Porto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
