PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rockwell Mcgee (ranked 734 p4p, 698 weight class) and Sambo Sam (ranked 99 p4p, 95 weight class). Mcgee comes to the cage accompanied by No More Hot Dogs. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rockwell Mcgee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Sambo Sam!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and Chris Dean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sam feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mcgees jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Sam keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mcgee.
A head kick misses from Mcgee.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sam has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Sam shoots and misses
and Mcgee counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sam misses with a body shot.
Mcgee digs a good hook to Sam's body.
Sam misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sam shoots in looking for a takedown. Mcgee tries to sprawl out of it but Sam keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mcgee manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcgee lands a big head kick that sends Sam tumbling to the mat! Mcgee takes a step backwards and waves Sam back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Sambo Sam has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Oooooh!!! Mcgee has knocked Sam down with a huge combo! Mcgee steps away and waves a wobbly Sam back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Sam is rocked!
BOOM! Mcgee lands a beautiful left hook that drops Sam. Sam tries to recover but Mcgee is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Sam lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rockwell Mcgee!
In his post fight interview, Rockwell Mcgee gave a big smile as he said 'I’ve got something to say to my wife: Wash them toes, baby, ‘cause daddy’s comin’ home!'.
