Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gwynn Evans (ranked 490 p4p, 701 weight class) and Tobig Tofail (ranked 73 p4p, 109 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gwynn Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tobig Tofail!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans drops his hands momentarily and Tofail takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Tofail getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Evans moves into the clinch.
Evans misses with a hook to the ribs.
Evans misses with a punch to the body.
Tofail has had enough of the clinch but Evans keeps him there for the moment.
Evans lands a right hand that snaps the head of Tofail backwards.
Tofail blocking some punches.
Evans misses with a short punch on the inside.
Tofail wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Evans misses with a hook from the clinch.
Tofail wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Evans has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tofail's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Evans bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

It seemed like Tofail was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Evans tried to score with a low kick but Tofail checks it.
Evans staying out of range there.
Evans throws the left hand but Tofail avoids the punch easily.
Tofail misses with an attempted mid kick.
Evans tried to counter with a leg kick but Tofail avoided it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tofail.
Evans takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

and Evans counters with a straight right hand.

Tofail cracks Evans with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Tobig Tofail seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Evans takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Tofail throws a push kick but Evans slaps the foot to one side.

Tofail lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tofail throws a shot from downtown. Evans moves away and avoids it.

and Evans takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Tofail connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Tofail sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Evans on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Tofail throws out a loose jab but Evans uses good head movement to avoid it.
Evans slips under a jab from Tofail.
Tofail blocks a low kick nicely.
Evans throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Evans lands a left and a right that send Tofail crashing to the mat, dazed. Evans thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Evans throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Tofail is still on wobbly legs! Can Evans finish him?
Tofail looks winded!
Evans lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gwynn Evans!
A relieved looking Gwynn Evans thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
