Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Hull (ranked 1528 p4p, 650 weight class) and Eduardo Corassa (ranked 109 p4p, 47 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamie Hull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 21 - 2, fighting out of New York, Eduardo Corassa!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hull tries for a takedown but Corassa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Corassa! But no joy.
Corassa changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Hull shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Corassa counters with a nice uppercut.
Hull moves into range and connects with a jab.

Hull gets the takedown into side control.
Corassa is looking to reverse the position.
Corassa is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Hull wants to lay and pray for a moment but Corassa keeps working.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hull tries to free his leg and advance position but Corassa is retaining full guard.
Corassa seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

and Corassa counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hull thinking.

Corassa is refusing to be controlled, as Hull sits in half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

I was talking to Hull's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Corassa makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Hull displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Corassa throws out the jab.
Hull shoots in looking for a takedown but Corassa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hull's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Corassa is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hull with a body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Corassa throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hull stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Corassa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jamie Hull seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hull dives in for a single leg takedown but Corassa sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Corassa lands a shoulder strike.
Hull jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Corassa walks away with a smile on his face. Hull gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Corassa tests Hull's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Oh Hull is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Corassa scoring well with a low kick there.
Hull seems to have got his legs back now.

Hull fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Corassa sprawls well initially but Hull persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Corassa is trying to stand up here but Hull is controlling him well.
Jamie Hull overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Corassa is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Hull prevents Corassa from improving his position.
Hull is keen to just control but Corassa is a slippery customer.
Corassa pushes Hull off looking to stand but Hull dives back in and keeps control.
Hull is looking to take a break and control but Corassa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hull is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Corassa is just riding it out for now. Hull eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Corassa has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Hull is on him like a limpet, forcing Corassa back against the cage.

Hull tries to pull guard but Corassa holds him up against the cage and eventually Hull drops back down to his feet.

Corassa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Corassa thuds his right hand into Hull's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Eduardo Corassa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
