Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malig Mferi (ranked 747 p4p, 1212 weight class) and Buddah Joe (ranked 47 p4p, 73 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Malig Mferi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buddah Joe!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mferi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Joe moves away.
Joe drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mferi defends it well.
Joe throws a body shot but no joy.
Mferi misses with a body shot.
Mferi lands a jab to the nose.
Mferi throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Joe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mferi's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mferi uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Mferi throws a nice looking combination but Joe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Joe feints the counter takedown.
Mferi throws a big shot that misses.
Joe changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Malig Mferi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mferi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Joe.
Joe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mferi.

Joe moves into range and clinches up with Mferi.

Mferi swings for the body but Joe moves out of range.

Joe ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Mferi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Joe.
Mferi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Joe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Joe tries to close the distance and clinch but Mferi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mferi misses with a wild body shot.
Joe drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mferi defends it well.
Mferi changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Joe moves in looking to clinch but Mferi pushes him off.

Mferi connects with a right hand. Joe shakes it off.
Joe tries to score with a low kick but Mferi moves his leg out of the way.

and Joe counters with a takedown into side control.
Mferi is trying to control Joe's posture but Joe avoids it.
Mferi is not content to let Joe control the position.
Mferi tries to buck Joe off but Joe is having none of it.
Mferi wants to control but Joe postures up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Joe is keen to just control but Mferi is a slippery customer.

Joe prevents Mferi from improving his position.
Mferi is holding on to half guard well.
Joe is trying to control the action in half guard but Mferi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Joe is working for a submission of some sort.
Well, if Joe is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Joe is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mferi is holding on to half guard well.
Mferi is looking for a sweep. Joe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Joe wants to work for an arm triangle but Mferi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mferi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Joe wants to control from the top but Mferi keeps moving.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mferi is on top in guard.


Joe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mferi defends well.

Mferi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mferi is fighting to break Joe's control of his arms but Joe is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Joe with the counter takedown but Mferi avoids it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Joe. Mferi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Joe tries to clinch up.
Mferi went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Joe fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Joe throws a body punch but Mferi moves out of range.

Joe shoots in and bounces Mferi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mferi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Joe can do to turn this around?

Joe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mferi manages to get himself to full guard.

Joe wants to control from the top but Mferi keeps moving.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Joe working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Joe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mferi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mferi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Joe is controlling him.

And Joe tries to counter it with a takedown but Mferi pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mferi keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters circling - Mferi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Malig Mferi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mferi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
