Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Matson (ranked 1861 p4p, 1045 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 218 p4p, 118 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar dives in and grabs Matson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Matson pushes down on Lesnar's head and hops out.

Lesnar is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Matson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Matson has escaped and now he's on top!

Lesnar is working an open guard so Matson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Lesnar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lesnar lands in his opponent's guard.
Lesnar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Matson is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Primal Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Lesnar postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Matson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lesnar, into his guard.

Matson wants to stand but Lesnar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Matson stands and steps away. Lesnar gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lesnar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Matson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lesnar is in Matson's guard.

Lesnar is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Matson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
