PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24153 p4p, 24111 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 34 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 27 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Buut feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Buktot is controlling Buut's posture.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Buut decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.

And Buktot counters with a quick kick to the body but Buut blocks it.

Buut shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buktot sprawls well. Buktot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Buut gets slowly back to his feet.
As Buut looks to move away, Buktot throws a big counter combo but Buut just gets out of the way.
Buut shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buktot pinned against the cage. Buktot gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Buktot shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Buut's guard.

Buktot is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Buktot bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buut might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Buktot haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A bit of a lull in the action here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Buut tries for a takedown but Buktot sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Buktot looks to land a body kick but Buut moved away.

Buktot closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Buktot lands in his opponent's guard.

Buktot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Buut for as long as he can get away with.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Well Buktot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
