PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robinson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nero Boston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by KoRn-Grim Reaper. Boston is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Loituma - "Ievan Polkka". We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robinson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nero Boston!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boston shoots in and bounces Silva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Boston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boston throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Silva wants to sweep but no luck.

Boston drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boston jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Boston postures up.

Boston is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boston is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Silva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Silva has escaped and now he's on top!

Boston is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.

Boston lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Silva!
Silva is looking to improve his position but Boston isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boston is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Silva has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Boston goes for an armbar but Silva turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Silva.

Boston working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Boston is looking to regain half guard here but Silva keeps moving and retains side control.
Silva passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Boston!
Silva wants to get back to his feet but Boston is holding on tight.
Silva lands a nice shot to the head.

Silva jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Boston manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Silva works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Boston tries to buck Silva off but Silva is having none of it.
Boston sneaks back into half guard.
Silva trying to control from half guard but Boston is working away.
Silva is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Boston gets full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Boston looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Silva has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Boston keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nero Boston will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Silva tries to clinch there but Boston circles away.
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Boston decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.

Boston thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Silva throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Boston drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Silva dives on top into guard.
Boston is breathing heavily.

Silva wants to control from the top but Boston keeps moving.
Silva wants to stand but Boston is controlling his posture from full guard.
Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Boston gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Boston thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Boston slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Silva is trying to control Boston's posture but Boston avoids it.

Boston tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boston has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Boston working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Boston sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Silva is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Boston throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Silva is trying to control Boston's posture but Boston avoids it.
Boston throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Boston's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Silva tries to roll over but Boston keeps him under control.
Silva is trying to stand up here but Boston is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Boston circles away from the clinch attempt

and Boston counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silva!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva can't escape the position.

Boston has hold of Silva's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Silva manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Silva is looking to get to half guard.
Boston avoids the attempt from Silva to control.

Boston jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Silva is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Silva and Boston has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Silva is pushing Boston's head away, looking to escape. Boston manages to hold on to the position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nero Boston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Boston dodges the punch combination from Silva.
Boston shoots in but no luck this time.
Silva fails with the takedown

and Boston counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
Silva regains half guard.
Silva is trying to get back to full guard.

Silva is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Boston pulls his head out easily.
Silva wants to get back to full guard but Boston has passed into side control.

Boston quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Boston but it's paid off an Silva is forced to tap! Nice work by Boston.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nero Boston!
