Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Phil Cayman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cayman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bishop was covering up waiting for the punch and Cayman finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bishop looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Cayman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cayman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bishop can't keep his opponent in guard - Cayman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cayman slows the pace down in half guard.
Cayman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cayman wants to work for an arm triangle but Bishop is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cayman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Bishop is in trouble now - Cayman has advanced to mount!

Cayman is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bishop has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Cayman landing strikes from the mount.
Cayman postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bishop looks a forlorn figure.

Cayman has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Bishop is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Phil Cayman!
