Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rantang Gustus (ranked 1252 p4p, 1660 weight class) and Michel Santos (ranked 117 p4p, 149 weight class). Santos is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DMX - Intro. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rantang Gustus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michel Santos!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gustus shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Santos's guard.
Santos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

We've been hearing good reports from Gustus's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Santos gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Gustus swings around for an armbar but Santos sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gustus's guard.
Gustus has his foot on Santos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Santos works his way back into a safe position though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Santos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gustus does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Santos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gustus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Santos has managed to get both his arms back between Gustus's legs - danger averted.
Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gustus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Santos is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gustus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santos as he avoids it easily.

It seemed like Santos was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Michel Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.

Rantang Gustus really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Northern Zombie logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
