PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tmas Panzy (ranked 3424 p4p, 3319 weight class) and Andrew Kelvin (ranked 375 p4p, 371 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tmas Panzy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andrew Kelvin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panzy misses with a takedown
and Kelvin counters with a nice uppercut.
Kelvin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kelvin scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Kelvin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Panzy gets a double leg takedown into Kelvin's guard.

Kelvin has an active guard here but Panzy has managed to pass into half guard.

Panzy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kelvin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kelvin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Panzy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kelvin is looking for a triangle but Panzy pushes his legs off easily.
Panzy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Panzy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Kelvin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Panzy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Panzy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Panzy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kelvin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Panzy has managed to get both his arms back between Kelvin's legs - danger averted.

Panzy is pushing down on Kelvin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kelvin is fighting to maintain full guard but Panzy has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Panzy in particular looking to stall.
Panzy is trying to control. Kelvin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kelvin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kelvin.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Kelvin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Panzy looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Panzy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kelvin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Panzy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kelvin.

Panzy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kelvin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kelvin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Panzy connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kelvin some visible discomfort.

Panzy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kelvin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kelvin is trying to control Panzy's posture but Panzy avoids it.
Panzy is looking to take a break and control but Kelvin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Panzy is working Kelvin over with some ground and pound from side control.

Kelvin felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
