Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Hodges (ranked 4284 p4p, 4371 weight class) and Xavier Dumont (ranked 352 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Hodges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Xavier Dumont!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodges fails to land with a series of punches.

Dumont gets a takedown into half guard.
Hodges has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dumont is working away from the top position though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dumont throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hodges tries to roll over but Dumont keeps him under control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dumont postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hodges to stand up.

Hodges closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dumont to the mat! Dumont manages to get full guard.

Dumont scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Dumont avoids the head kick by Hodges.
Dumont takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Dumont lands with a nice combination. Hodges backs away looking to recover.
Hodges misses with a double jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hodges tries to sprawl but Dumont drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dumont passes to side control.

Dumont tries for a kimura but Hodges is defending well.
Hodges wants to control but Dumont postures up.

Hodges tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Dumont presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Hodges keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hodges sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hodges is not content to let Dumont control the position.
Dumont prevents Hodges from improving his position.

Dumont is thwarting Hodges's attempts to control the position.
Hodges is trying to get back to full guard.
Hodges wants to control but Dumont is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hodges regains full guard. Nicely done.
Dumont tries to free his leg and advance position but Hodges is retaining full guard.
Hodges looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Dumont passes into half guard.

Hodges is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dumont scores with a takedown into Hodges's guard.
Dumont's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xavier Dumont dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Hodges drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hodges knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dumont on the ground.
Hodges wants to pass the guard but Dumont is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hodges closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Dumont has one foot on Hodges's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Dumont is breathing heavily.

Hodges tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dumont fails to land with a series of punches.
Dumont moves out of range as Hodges throws a body kick.

Hodges changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dumont looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hodges wants to control but Dumont is keeping him busy.

Hodges connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Dumont some visible discomfort.
Dumont tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Hodges easily slips into full mount!

Hodges lands a big shot there that rocks Dumont but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Dumont is wriggling around trying to escape.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dumont seems to have recovered his senses.
BOOM! Hodges connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hodges raining down hammerfists from mount.
Hodges postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Dumont out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Hodges goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
