The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Almeda.
Jay slips under a jab.
Jay ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Almeda shoots in looking for a takedown. Jay tries to sprawl out of it but Almeda keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've been told by Jay's head coaches at ubergym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Almeda uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jay.

Almeda looks to land a left hand but Jay moved out of range nicely.

Kobra Jay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Almeda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jay's waist but Jay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Almeda off to one side.
