PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sinistra Hook (ranked 3610 p4p, 1956 weight class) and John Knox (ranked 447 p4p, 289 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sinistra Hook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Knox!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox dodges the punch combination from Hook.
Hook throws a lazy uppercut
and Knox counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hook.
Knox on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Knox with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Hook scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Knox doesn't seem bothered though.
A shot to the body from Knox misses
and Hook counters with a nice kick to the body.
Hook definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Knox rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hook moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Knox misses with a straight left.
It looked like Hook wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Knox takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hook connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hook is looking to score with low kicks.
Knox uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hook.
Knox let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Hook with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

A looping hook to the body misses from Knox. Hook does a little dance to reset his feet.
Knox throws a body shot but no joy.
Sinistra Hook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hook rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Knox moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As Hook backs off Knox throws a huge counter combo but Hook manages to avoid it all.
Knox has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Hook throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hook uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Knox.
We've been informed that Knox has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Hook takes one to the chin there.
Knox takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Knox gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hook tries a low kick but Knox avoids it.
Hook throws the left hand but Knox avoids the punch easily.

Hook jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hook is looking to slow Knox down with leg kicks.

Knox fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hook manages to avoid it.

Knox is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hook rather than just go for the knockout.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Knox! But no joy.

Hook throws a solid leg kick but Knox takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hook.

Hook throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Knox looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Hook scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

and Knox connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nice shot lands for Hook.

Hook paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Knox cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hook lands a leg kick that knocks Knox off balance momentarily.

Hook tests Knox's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A slow jab from Knox misses its intended target.
Hook fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hook throws a wild body kick that Knox sees coming a mile off.

Knox looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Hook throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Knox's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Hook uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Knox.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Knox jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Knox throws a right and a left that both miss.

Knox lands a left and a right that send Hook crashing to the mat, dazed. Knox thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Sinistra Hook has been cut.
Hook fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Knox takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hook is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Knox can do to turn this around?

Hook connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Knox swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Knox scores with a shot to the body.
Knox works over Hook's head and body with a nice combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hook feints and then cracks Knox's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Knox down.
John Knox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
