PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Danial Mason (ranked 4940 p4p, 4359 weight class) and Jakub Pocisk (ranked 0 p4p, 243 weight class). Pocisk has chosen Flying Light as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danial Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jakub Pocisk!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pocisk looks to land a body kick but Mason moved away.
Some bone on bone action there as Pocisk checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Pocisk gets the takedown into side control.
An elbow from Pocisk crashes against the mat.
Pocisk tries to score with some ground and pound. Mason controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Mason being controlled for a moment.
Mason tries to improve position but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pocisk misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Pocisk has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Pocisk prevents Mason from getting the reversal.

Mason is working hard here to advance position.
Pocisk controlling the pace for now.
Let's hope that Pocisk has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Mason is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pocisk throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Mason really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mason keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mason manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pocisk trying to mount his opponent but Mason defends it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pocisk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Pocisk looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Mason avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pocisk.

Pocisk thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Pocisk escapes and gets back to his feet.

Pocisk shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mason napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Mason is looking for a sweep.

Pocisk trying to control the action but Mason is working from the bottom.
Mason throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Mason is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Pocisk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mason. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jakub Pocisk dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

A head kick misses from Mason.

Pocisk looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Mason throws his legs up looking for a submission but Pocisk uses it to pass to side control.
Pocisk sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mason is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Pocisk is trying to get an arm triangle but Mason is defending well.

Pocisk decides to take the fight back to the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pocisk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pocisk lands in his opponent's guard.

Pocisk stands up and waves to Mason to follow him.

Mason is looking to clinch.
Mason throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

and Pocisk counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pocisk is breathing heavily.
Mason is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pocisk in particular looking to stall.

Jakub Pocisk has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mason is pressing down on Pocisk's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mason has his foot on Pocisk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pocisk works his way back into a safe position though.
Pocisk stays in close to Mason's body and controls the position.

Pocisk is posturing up here but Mason has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Pocisk tries to roll out but it's too tight and Pocisk has to tap! Slick submission there by Mason!
