Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Sokolov (ranked 3698 p4p, 2052 weight class) and Victor Kherson (ranked 449 p4p, 277 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sergei Sokolov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Victor Kherson!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sokolov moves away from the strike by Kherson.
Kherson lands with an uppercut that bounces Sokolov off the cage and back into range.
Sokolov takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Sokolov looks to throw the jab but Kherson is out of range.
Kherson misses with a straight right.
Kherson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sokolov throws a hook but Kherson blocks it.
Kherson throws a body punch but Sokolov moves out of range.
Sokolov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kherson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sokolov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sokolov takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kherson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Sokolov shoots in looking for a takedown but Kherson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sokolov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sokolov is keen to just control but Kherson is a slippery customer.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sokolov connects with a nice short shot to Kherson's temple.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kherson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sokolov is nestled in close to Kherson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Sokolov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Sokolov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kherson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sokolov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kherson's face.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Sokolov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sokolov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kherson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sokolov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sokolov's back!
Kherson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sokolov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sokolov goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Kherson escapes and is now in half guard on top.

I think Sokolov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
