PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edmond Chabazian (ranked 1469 p4p, 1349 weight class) and Azad Bekzod (ranked 205 p4p, 192 weight class). Bekzod is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Weird" Al Yankovic - Amish Paradise. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edmond Chabazian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azad Bekzod!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bekzod wants to clinch up but Chabazian keeps it at a distance.
Chabazian changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Bekzod throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Chabazian counters with a single leg into guard. Bekzod didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Chabazian stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bekzod swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bekzod can do anything to dispel that myth.

Chabazian tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chabazian has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Chabazian shoots in for a double leg but Bekzod sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Bekzod has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Chabazian seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Bekzod can turn it around.

Bekzod cracks Chabazian with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Bekzod has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Chabazian to stand back up!
Oh Chabazian is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Chabazian tries to keep at a distance but Bekzod has taken the fight into the clinch.
Chabazian's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Bekzod pushes Chabazian back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Bekzod breaks from the clinch.
Bekzod fakes the body blow, causing Chabazian to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Chabazian goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

During a confident post fight interview, Azad Bekzod thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
