Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cottoneye Joe (ranked 2824 p4p, 1829 weight class) and Tommy Draconis (ranked 336 p4p, 219 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cottoneye Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Draconis!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Draconis closes the distance but Joe moves to the side
enabling Joe to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Tommy Draconis has been cut.
Draconis tries to close the distance and clinch but Joe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
It looked like Joe was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Draconis.

Draconis gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Joe creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Draconis has a couple of punches blocked by Joe.

Still in the clinch, Draconis scores with a nice short uppercut.

Draconis throws a punch but it's blocked by Joe.

Joe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Joe definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

and Joe counters with a thumping low kick.
Draconis moves to clinch but Joe breaks away
and Joe counters with an inside leg kick.

Draconis clinches.
Draconis misses with a hook from the clinch.
Draconis swings wildly with an uppercut but Joe uses good head movement to avoid it.
Joe using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Draconis has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Draconis has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Joe can't find room to land a body shot as Draconis controls the action.

A nice right hand lands inside from Joe.
A head punch on the inside from Draconis fails to land.

Joe breaks from the clinch.

Draconis closes the distance and clinches.
Draconis misses with the head strike.
Joe blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Joe is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Draconis swings wildly with an uppercut but Joe uses good head movement to avoid it.
Joe crunches a lovely knee into Draconis's ribcage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Joe breaks the clinch.
Joe circles away from the clinch attempt
and Joe makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Draconis closes the distance looking to clinch
and Joe counters with a nice uppercut.
Draconis tries to clinch but Joe moves away
and as Draconis loses concentration momentarily, Joe counters with a picture perfect head kick! Draconis goes down, out cold! The referee rushed in to check on his condition - I'm sure he'll be ok but that was a massive knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Cottoneye Joe!
A relieved looking Cottoneye Joe thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Tommy Draconis stepped up to the mic, saying 'This fight was really short notice, only a few days. My manager screwed the pooch here. It's no wonder I lost. It has to be someone else's fault! I'm the shit!'.
